CRACKDEN!

A dear friend who lives in Florida and shall remain nameless Larry has been fighting some demons, DRUG DEMONS!!! He recently sent me a picture of the end result of one of his benders. Not only is this dark-sided, it's NOT Christian!

Okay here are pictures of the friend Larry in question...

This is him... Sober. Cute, ain't he?...

This is him after a bump or two...

This is him after an 8-ball!

Chris Engen Speaks

Chris Engen finally spoke out via a blog post on his myspace site. Below you'll find a portion of the post...

May 26, 2009 - Tuesday
CHRIS ENGEN - STATEMENT TO THE PUBLIC
Good Day. This is the first time in my life that I address an audience so vast and varied. There are a number of heated topics that have become entwined with my recent decision to quit my job, and I feel there are a number of truths that deserve to be stated, a number of untruths that deserve to be rectified, and a few of my own ideas that, by way of circumstance, I am compelled to inject into the debate.  This is the only statement I intend to make regarding this subject. I would like first to apologize, as I feel I owe a great many of you at least that. I know that a choice like this appears weak and impulsive. Honestly, it was the last thing I ever thought I’d do - the absolute LAST thing I ever wanted.

While he does not engage in the details behind his exit, one could easily read into some of the possible catalysts for his decision. I respect his decision to exit the role, and I am also sadden by his actions - he was really making something out of the role and demonstrated great potential.

Below is a great clip featuring Chris acting his ass off against Eric Braeden. Granted Eric chews him up and spits him out, but Chris managed to hold his own.

This is gonna be stuck in ma' head today...

The Man Chris Dare Not Kiss!

Yani Gellman, who plays Rafe Torres on The Young and the Restless, is the man Chris Engen would not share an on-screen kiss with. Instead, and I'm sure there were possibly other reasons, Chris walked out of his contract role as Adam Newman. Starting June 25th, we will see Adam Jr. portrayed by Michael Muhney.

All That Could Have Been...

There is a great article by Devin Faraci over at CHUD on what went wrong, and what could have been...

The Terminator Salvation you saw on movie screens this weekend was not always the Terminator Salvation that was meant to be. Like in the franchise itself, history has been changed, and the original script for Terminator Salvation ended up getting gutted. You can still see the outlines of that script in the current film (a form of deja vu, as similar vestigial script elements can be seen in this summer's blockbuster hit Star Trek), but the specifics that might have made Terminator Salvation if not better at least more interesting are gone. Continue

Terminator: Salvation *SPOILERS*

I would be EXTREMELY surprised if the Warner Brothers follows through with the rest of the proposed trilogy. What should have been a promising reboot for fledgling series (Rise of the Machines was lackluster and disappointing, to say the least) failed to the deliver and here is why:
  1. Rewriting the end based on Test Audience and Studio feedback was a misfire. Having John Connor die and brought back as his cybernetic doppelgänger would have brought a new spin to an old story. This irony would have been a better dramatic beat for the planned trilogy. I was really pissed because having read the original ending, I immediately picked up exactly where the rewrite was tagged on.
  2. Marcus sacrifices himself to save John Connor by donating his heart. Okay let's break this down. A heart transplant in the middle of California wasteland. An impromptu heart transplant and they so happened to have the proper equipment. A heart transplant where conveniently enough, both subjects have the same bloodtype. I'll stop here.
  3. If you couldn't have the real Arnold, what purpose did it serve to have a CGI Arnold Model T-800 fight John Connor? I get it. It's a wink at the film's history. But it served absolutely no purpose. Any Terminator model would have easily replaced Arnold. A simple and more understated wink, such as a 5 second background cameo would have sufficed.
  4. So after a time jump from 2003 to 2018, we get a quick glimpse of Marcus laying on medical slab (seemingly dead or powered down) at one of the Skynet Annex's which is bombed ten minutes later leaving no trace of survivors. Yet, Marcus walks away. Well, wakes up first. Then, walks away unscathed.
  5. Skynet builds Marcus, and deems him the ultimate Cybernetic creation but somehow neglects to send him to the past to kill John Connor. Instead they send a T-800, a T-1000 and a T-X.
I'm sure there are a few more holes to this Swiss Cheese. These are the ones that stood out to me. Anyone out there care to share their thoughts?

I finally have something personal to say...

It has been sometime since I've written anything remotely personal. Work has consumed most of my time, and with the state of economy today, for that I'm quite grateful and blessed. Beyond that, I can honestly say, that I have never felt as grounded as I have been feeling over the last couple of months. A whole lot of nothing has happened in almost a year, yet I have experienced a whole lot of everything.

To a certain degree, everything that's old is new again. Certain aspects of my life before the past year and beyond have resurfaced. Ghosts of Manny's past have come and gone, some have brought the gift of closure, others a surprising new twist on an old storyline.

There is also a refreshing sense of newness. Like a rebooted season on a fledgeling television series, there are several new and certainly unexpected characters.

With everything that's going on, and anything else that may come my way - I can confidently say, there is no better feeling than the way I feel about myself today.

“Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous.” - Carrie Bradshaw, Sex and the City

WTF!?!?!

Y'all know by now one of my guilty pleasures are soaps. The following is a little rant about some breaking news...

What is your problem, Chris?!?! You're on the highest rated daytime soap. You're cast as the son of one of the headlining characters, who is a fan favorite and veteran actor. And last but not least you're in a front-burning storyline. So you up and walkout???

Apparently a storyline driven action may be the reason for his walking out. Although there are also rumors (Chris) Engen is battling some "demons." Why is it that when a straight actor is given a gay storyline to play out, they have to battle some "demon" that conveniently enough prohibits them from fleshing out the role?

So earlier today I was Googling Billy Miller who plays Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless. I think he's hella hot. Long story short...

I was looking for an image of HIM... Yum!

And I came across a picture of THEM!... Woowie! Zoowie!

The Apple Quote (Redux)

(Boys) are like apples on trees... The best ones are at the top of the tree. The (other) boys don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't so good but EASY. So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right boy willing to climb trees.

And so it begins... *Y&R SPOILER*

It's Cliffhanger Friday. Boy, does Y&R have a cliffhanger for viewers today! Below are the last two minutes of today's Y&R ep., which will leave diehard fans gasping. Based on my previous post, I'll just say this spoiler has NOTHING to do with Cricket! Big love to the country of Canada for airing Y&R episodes a day ahead.

Push/Precious Trailer

Yes, folks that is Mariah Carey. And premature oscar nomination buzz is already building around Mo'Nique's performance. Just remember Oprah's all over this. Keep in mind what happened the last time Oprah got her lesbi-taint all over a major studio film - Beloved. This should be interesting.

Nine... INCHES!

Chicago: Part Duece! Rob Marshall is at it again, and I like what I've seen so far.

America's Next Top Model Is...

Unfortunately, I'll be at the gloss and primer mines tonight, so I will not know the true winner until I get home. My money is on...

Wrong! Shockingly Wrong!

Paulina Porizkova has been let go from ANTM. Porizkova will make her last appearance as an ANTM judge on tonight's finale - which I will unfortunately, not be watching until tomorrow, because I will be stuck at the gloss and primer mines! I'm officially declaring Teyona the winner of Cycle 12.

May 15th on Young & Restless

Two weddings (Kay & Murphy, Cane & Lily) in one month - one of them couldn't possibly have a happy ending! What's gonna happen?!? How will it end?!?

Da-ahh-mage @ Barrage

Just your typical Saturday night of mayhem with my P-I-C's. The evening started out with dinner and drinks at Tacocina and ended at Barrage in HK.
