Y&R: Colleen

Do not go gentle into that good night... Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

As I lay in bed watching the 9-17 episode of The Young and the Restless, I can not help but think of Dylan Thomas' Do Not Go Gently Into That Good Night. As Colleen floated in the mirky depths of the lake, her spirit floating between worlds, she was met by every character who played a significant role in her life. Each character reminisced about their connection/history and while they encouraged her to fight, they subtly said their goodbyes.

This was certainly one of those episodes that needs to be seen. The writing was rich in history, the production was movie-like and character heavy.

Colleen eventually lost the battle against the dying of the light. In what could be considered a case of cosmic irony, Colleen crossed over with the help of her father who met a similar fate nearly 6 months ago while saving another life, just as Colleen was intent in doing.

Kudos to Y&R and Tammy Sursok for an amazing episode! One which I will watch again and again in the near future.
