I'm apt to not repeat the past it's because the experience taught me it was not something I particularly want to revisit/experience again. I don't chose to forget, I just chose to erase the material aspects of the past (i.e. pictures, letters, gifts). One can never quite erase the psychological aspects of the past. Experiences are what make us who we are. Material objects sometimes can act as anchors. Sometimes we have to release those anchors in order to continue moving onward and forward.
