Recently, on The Young and the Rest of Us...

It's the first of the month, so you know what that means?... Y&R rolled out the black folk (Ya'll know they're only showcased on or around the first of the month, and on or around the middle of the month)... So, Sofia and Harpo get into it on da street. You know, real ghetto-like, cause that's what Maria Arena DUMBBell thinks the black folk do. Sofia is a total FOOD WHORE... She just wants some cakes! She loves her cake like Phaedra loves her PEEECHUS. But that's a whole other story.

Why do they always try to be washing out the black folk on Y&R. All I can make out during this scene are the white of Sofia's eyes, her teef and that gawd awful lipstick. Harpo is drowning in that black peacoat, you can't even see his face!

Have you ever noticed that in the Winters original "apartment" (Cause God forbid Neil Winters and other black folk on the show have a mansion or ranch) the walls and most of the furniture were same color as the actors skin tone!?!? Victoria Rowell used to complain about that all the time. She would say something like, isn't it wonderful how "we" just blend into the walls and decor!?!

Anyways, here is a delicious clip from the always creative and imaginative Matthew, The Power Gay!

The Stafford BRINGS IT! (@ 0:49sec)

Before I delve into the scene... Nicholas Newman is Daytime's Ultimate D-Bag! Walking away from the woman you claim to love and are willing to fight for? WTF?!

This is an amazing scene, masterfully acted (no surprise there) by Michelle Stafford. Not only does she manage to take walk the viewer through four years of storyline in under five minutes. Her emotional delivery can draw in even the most freshmen viewer. This is an Emmy reel for sure.

Y&R: Colleen

Do not go gentle into that good night... Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

As I lay in bed watching the 9-17 episode of The Young and the Restless, I can not help but think of Dylan Thomas' Do Not Go Gently Into That Good Night. As Colleen floated in the mirky depths of the lake, her spirit floating between worlds, she was met by every character who played a significant role in her life. Each character reminisced about their connection/history and while they encouraged her to fight, they subtly said their goodbyes.

This was certainly one of those episodes that needs to be seen. The writing was rich in history, the production was movie-like and character heavy.

Colleen eventually lost the battle against the dying of the light. In what could be considered a case of cosmic irony, Colleen crossed over with the help of her father who met a similar fate nearly 6 months ago while saving another life, just as Colleen was intent in doing.

Kudos to Y&R and Tammy Sursok for an amazing episode! One which I will watch again and again in the near future.

Y&R: WTF! (Update)

I'm working on it, but I'm all caught up with Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood (Will Candi come to Stella's Burfedday Partee?!?!?!). In the meantime, enjoy the picture. Yes, I'm sure it's about the worst Photoshop job you've seen. SUCK IT!

Y&R: WTF!

I would have photoshopped this image to display them giving you the middle finger, because quite honestly that is exactly what I feel this show is giving me... WTF! I have alot to say about the state of Y&R recently, but I am too fucking tired from an almost 12-hour stint at The Beauty Depot to get into it right now.

I will just leave you with the fact that I have reached a point where I have started to download episodes of GH to wash the down the bad taste Y&R is leaving in my mouth. Some one needs to give M.A.B. a "Get it together gurl!" pill - STAT!

Y&R: Adam and Rafe... You sure have a purty mouth (Part 2)

Okay, I have spent about an hour of memorizing these screencaps, because you know I will be trying Adam's moves out on someone very soon! I do not know who exactly, but when I find that certain someone, I will be caressing their soft pouty lower lip with one of my thumbs! While whispering, "You sure have a purty mouth, boy!"

The eyes are the windows to the soul... Well, Rafe I am looking at your soul, and it is beeeeegin' for Adam to bend your over his bed and have him fill your chocolate starfish with his chunky dick snot!

This latest turn to Adam's revenge story-line brings up so many questions! Is Rafe going to play along to exonerate his Aunt Estella, and in return, gaslight Adam!? Is Rafe just another pawn in Adam's game? Is Adam power top? Is Rafe a bossy bottom? Gun Oil, I-D, or Colt - which lube will they use!?! I guess we'll just have to tune in to find out!

July 16th!

Happy Birthday to ME! John Driscoll's first airdate is set for Thursday, July 16. Driscoll will be playing Phillip Chancellor IV. As I have mentioned before, he is rumored to be paired up with Rafe, who is currently tied up in the Adam storyline. I'm wondering if the writers will dare conjure up an Adam - Phillip - Rafe 3-way. Now that's what I call daytime drama!

You sure have a purty mouth... [And so, it begins!]

Things are starting to heat up on Y&R! Adam
takes one for the team and seduces Rafe, in an effort to distract him from discovering incriminating evidence. I blogged earlier that Adam and Rafe would kiss... Well it turns out kissing is not all that Adam will do, as he goes balls deep to ensure his dastarly deeds (1. Injecting himself with botox to perpetuate his blindness. 2. Gaslighting a pregnant Ashley, which caused her to miscarry, and who is now enduring a hysterical pregancy.) are not brought to light.

I am happier than a pig in shit about this! This is the stuff of gay porn vidjeos!... And to see it in a soap, it's the fucking icing on the cake!

On a serious note... It is rather welcoming, as twisted as the storyline is, to see a soap actually go full force with the subject matter. It could be argued that perhaps AMC/OLTL/ATWT helped pave the way, yet their pacing (pussyfooting) and eventual mishandling of the subject matter have not necessarily delivered what fans were looking for. Fortunately, Y&R has always been known for their meticulously plotted storylines. And while we may not get the payoff of a love story between Adam and Rafe, we may get that in the near future between Rafe and Phillip Chancellor IV. This is definitely a "One to watch!" Tune in tomorrow...

Chris Engen Speaks

Chris Engen finally spoke out via a blog post on his myspace site. Below you'll find a portion of the post...

May 26, 2009 - Tuesday
CHRIS ENGEN - STATEMENT TO THE PUBLIC
Good Day. This is the first time in my life that I address an audience so vast and varied. There are a number of heated topics that have become entwined with my recent decision to quit my job, and I feel there are a number of truths that deserve to be stated, a number of untruths that deserve to be rectified, and a few of my own ideas that, by way of circumstance, I am compelled to inject into the debate.  This is the only statement I intend to make regarding this subject. I would like first to apologize, as I feel I owe a great many of you at least that. I know that a choice like this appears weak and impulsive. Honestly, it was the last thing I ever thought I’d do - the absolute LAST thing I ever wanted.

While he does not engage in the details behind his exit, one could easily read into some of the possible catalysts for his decision. I respect his decision to exit the role, and I am also sadden by his actions - he was really making something out of the role and demonstrated great potential.

Below is a great clip featuring Chris acting his ass off against Eric Braeden. Granted Eric chews him up and spits him out, but Chris managed to hold his own.

The Man Chris Dare Not Kiss!

Yani Gellman, who plays Rafe Torres on The Young and the Restless, is the man Chris Engen would not share an on-screen kiss with. Instead, and I'm sure there were possibly other reasons, Chris walked out of his contract role as Adam Newman. Starting June 25th, we will see Adam Jr. portrayed by Michael Muhney.

WTF!?!?!

Y'all know by now one of my guilty pleasures are soaps. The following is a little rant about some breaking news...

What is your problem, Chris?!?! You're on the highest rated daytime soap. You're cast as the son of one of the headlining characters, who is a fan favorite and veteran actor. And last but not least you're in a front-burning storyline. So you up and walkout???

Apparently a storyline driven action may be the reason for his walking out. Although there are also rumors (Chris) Engen is battling some "demons." Why is it that when a straight actor is given a gay storyline to play out, they have to battle some "demon" that conveniently enough prohibits them from fleshing out the role?

And so it begins... *Y&R SPOILER*

It's Cliffhanger Friday. Boy, does Y&R have a cliffhanger for viewers today! Below are the last two minutes of today's Y&R ep., which will leave diehard fans gasping. Based on my previous post, I'll just say this spoiler has NOTHING to do with Cricket! Big love to the country of Canada for airing Y&R episodes a day ahead.

May 15th on Young & Restless

Two weddings (Kay & Murphy, Cane & Lily) in one month - one of them couldn't possibly have a happy ending! What's gonna happen?!? How will it end?!?

Classic Soap Cuntery

Jill and Kay's classic feud has been cleverly re-ignited, and it could not have come at a better time. Amidst the terrible news in daytime land this week, the number one soap was able to deliver classic soap cuntery, involving, dare I say, veteran actors. Thursday's episode featured a fine balance of heavy drama and comedy written by veteran Y&R scribe, Janice Ferri Esser. Let us all throw cake!
